The west has decided to play cards with the soviet union.
They would do anything to defeat Germany.
A uproar started on the farm. There was banging on the table and a quarell started.
Wartime alliance between Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin fell apart right when the war ended.
This was due to distrust and tensions between Russia and the West.

"There were shoutings, bangings on the table, sharp suspicious glances, furious denials. The source of trouble appeared to be that Napolean and Mr. Pilkington had each played an ace of spades simultaneously"(139).

Explanation: They had now cheated each other in the card game. This is similar to how Russia and the West had alliance for World War two only. Their alliance had abruptley ended at the end, just like the card game had done.
